1997 was a big year for ‘wavy’ sneakers, both in the Max B sense of the word and literally, as applied to some of Nike’s biggest designs that year. Memorable releases like the Air Bakin, Air Foamposite One and Air Penny III all had extensive curvature defining their by now legendary look, and that year’s flagship runner was one of the most aerodynamic of them all. The Nike Air Max 97 CVS comes to market at a time when the aforementioned Foams and the whole Air Penny lineup are hotter than ever, and like the best of those new releases, these Sport Red CVS97s blend today’s blocking tendencies with yesterday’s familiar lines.
